adding with integers and variables

I think God must have been in a really bad mood decided to come up with something called math to trouble us! I’ve spent hours working on this math problem which relates to adding with integers and variables and I still can’t solve it. I’m particularly stuck on reducing fractions, quadratic equations and factoring. Can anyone show me the way on how to go about finding a solution to such problems? I’ve tried all ways that I could think of, but none helped. I need some urgent help now. Anybody?

There used to be a time when those were the only ways out. But thanks to technology today , we have something known as the Algebrator! My parents could not afford my college fees, so I had to work in the evening, after my classes. Solving equations at the end of the day seemed to be difficult for me at those times. A friend introduced Algebrator to me and since then I never had any problem solving my questions .
